There were sure a lot of close "pucker up" games this weekend. I guess that makes it exciting but sometimes there is something to be said for boring. Beau The Dope wrote about "involentary bowel movements" referring to the TNF game. It seemed like there was a lot of that going on Sunday also.
Eliminations have begun in the race for the Streak Prize. Anybody who misses their top pick for the rest of the season is out and every week that The Chainman extends his streak will alse eliminate more contenders. Of course, BadGasBrown and others are lurking and hoping Doug steps in something soft and stinky.
Have the Bears hit rock bottom yet? If they haven't yet where is there left to dig? I have been watching football for a long time and even when they won a superbowl they have never had or developed a top quality QB on that team. Jim McMahon was serviceable but it was the defence that carried them to the top. In all those years since 1985 surely there must have been some opportunities to either draft or develop talent. Either they are sh*t at recognizing talent or they are sh*t at developing it. Either way they are... well, never mind.
All I can say is that I look forward to American Thanksgiving weekend when the Bye weeks end. I need more room at the bottom of my picks for the games I am uncertain of. Of course, in truth there is no certainty in this pool.
THE ROTTERS REPORT:
2024 NFL Rule Changes
There have been some rule changes for the 2024 NFL season. Two rule changes are obvious and we have seen the rule changes
in action: the kickoff rule and on the onside kick rule. But here is the one most of us have not seen or heard about. That is
because it does not take place until the playoffs. In past years, the NFL has qualified 6 teams in each Conference. This year
there will 7 teams qualifying. Here is how it works:
The qualifying teams will be given a qualifying number one thru seven. Team One will be given the bye in the first round and will
have the home field advantage as long as they remain in the playoffs. Team Two will meet Team Seven, Team Three will meet Team
Six and Team Four will meet Team Five. The same is true in the other Conference. In the next round, the teams will be reassigned
new qualifying numbers depending on who’s left. Team One will meet Team Four and Team Two will meet Team Three. Teams will be
reassigned new qualifying numbers depending on who’s left. The winners will meet in the Conference Championship Game. Note: there is no extra week of playoffs.
Here is a visual for you as best as I can do using the computer keyboard:

After 10 weeks of play, D Man has the lead with 11 emails of hope, Rhino is 2nd place, having received 8 emails. There is a three way tie for 3rd place, Mustard Man, Squash Bros and Badassbrown with 7 emails each.

behind as the winners are not known at time of writing.
Until next week,

The Rotters
The Monica Award - As seems to be common this year the misery of being only 2 points from the money is shared. This week it is Big Head and the Three Stooges who share the "Monica Lewinski, close but not cigar" award.
The POW Award - It was an easy decision for me (that is the kind I like) picking this week's highly valued POW award. Fifty three franchises entered picks this week and of those fifty two picked the Falcons to best the Saints. Four of them even had this as their top pick. Dobies picked New Orleans for 15 points and certainly did well vs the rest of the pool with this call. Well done John and congratulation on winning this week's award!
The Celler Dweller - Trevor Posch had this spot sealed up before the weekend ended. He trailed the next nearest contender by 9 points prior to MNF and that margin could only increase if the Rams won. Time to regroup after a pretty dismal week.
Without further ado, this weeks winners, and we honour and congratulate them are....
1st Mustard Man - Did not Respond. Andrew is having a heck of a year winning weekly money. It is surprizing that he is so far behind in the standings
2nd Mich Fits - Marc responded to his email, Hey, just glad to be in the potential winners circle as we Michiganders revel in the Lions’ resurgence and resilience!! Campbell for president! Go Lions!! As a Lions fan I agree with you on all points Marc!
3rd Pickle - You all read Ken's email, "I thought with this new number system, I wouldn't have a hope in hell of winning this pool, then I saw that Rhino won so I figure anyone can..lol" Without trying to be too big of an "A" hole, "How many perfect weeks have you had this year Ken?"
4th Dobies - Did not respond. Doug it trying to win back his entry fees in small increments this year.
My thought for this week, You know you are getting old when friends with benefits means having someone who can drive at night. I am guessing that it is a bad sign when you meet a new potential friend or partner and the first thing you inquire about is their night vision.
'Til next week then...
